The Davao del Norte governor Rodolfo del Rosario Taekwondo Tournament kicks off on Sunday, 8 a.m., at the RDR gym in Tagum City.
Rey Nagar of the Davao Taekwondo Center-Tagum said on Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn that this will be for the first time that they will be holding an event without the need to ask for registration fees from the participants.
He said that there will be around 200 young jins who will join the tournament that will also give KIX shirts upon registration of the player.
Nagar said that the tournament will be a follow-up of the RDR taekwando coaches' clinic that is being handled by coach Mike Villanueva of the Philippine Taekwondo Association.
The two-day clinic started on Thursday and will finish on Friday along with boxing, athletics, badminton and swimming events.

The Durian Tenpin Bowlers Association (DUTBA) Inc. will hold an open tournament on August 10 to 12 at the NCCC Mall of Davao while the Sunday Bowlers Club will have a duckpin bowling competition starting on August 5 at the Fairlanes.
Paul Rabe, DUTBA spokesman, said that cash prizes are at stake for the three-man team champion while the highest team triple and double scorers will also get rewards.
The champion wins P10,000, P7,000 for the second placers, P5,000 for the third placers, P5,000 for the fourth placers and P3,000 for the fifth placers.
Duckpin bowling at the Fairlanes will also resume when the Sunday Bowlers Club hosts the 23rd Kadayawan sa Davao Open Tournament starting on August 5.
Tournament director Emie Orteza said that the event is supported by Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and Vice Mayor Sara Z. Duterte to continue the development of duckpin bowling in Davao.
Opening ceremony is scheduled at 7 p.m. with playing dates on August 7, 12, 14, 16 and championship round on August 18 starting at 6:30 p.m.
