BKCC to hold 25th monthly chessfest

The Blue Knight Chess Club will hold its 25th Monthly Age-Group Tournament on January 25 at BKCC Center along Bonifacio Street.

On Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn, Club Director and National Chess Federation of the Philippines Arbiter Ronnie Tabudlong said that the competition will kick off their year-long grassroots chess development program in partnership with the Davao Sports Council Inc. and Davao City Councilors.

The tournament starts at 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, Tabudlong said that a multi-vitamins company has also expressed interest in supporting youth chess this year.The competition will be for college, high school and elementary students.

"We are very happy to inform you that chess has a new supporter here in Davao City," said Tabudlong, who is also the Mindanao coordinator of the prestigious Shell Active Youth Chess Championships.

He said that the sponsor and the organizers are still finalizing the details of the competition and will make the announcement soon.
