Elections reset

Members of the DSA decided to reset the elections.
The original members, we hope, will be able to attend in the polls.
Outgoing president Charles Raymond A. Maxey will announce the date soon.

Election of officers on November 5

Outgoing president Charles Raymond A. Maxey, sports editor of Sunstar Davao, is calling all members to attend the election of officers on November 5, 2009 at the Tower Inn-The Business Hotel along Qurino Avenue.

Emie Orteza, regional director of the Federation of Duckpin Bowlers of the Philippines and Salvador Paholio Jr., vice-president for Mindanao of PhilCycling, will act as members of the Commission on Elections.

Maxey said the polls will start at exactly 11 a.m.

Chess, basketball, volleyball topics of DSA Forum

Chess, basketball and volleyball are the topics of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum on Thursday, May 22, 10:30 a.m., at the Tower Inn along Quirino Avenue.
National Chess Federation of the Philippines regional director James Infiesto, youth standout John Ray Batucan and his father Neptali Jr. will tackle about the young Batucan's participation to the ASEAN Chess Tournament in Vietnam.
Atty.Manny Nitorreda, National Basketball Training Center Davao commissioner, will talk more about the recent NBTC Davao's first cycle of training while officials from the Banker's Cup wil also be gracing the weekly public service sports program sponsored by Genesis 88 Advertising and Tower Inn.
Coach Exequiel Tomines is also joining the Forum to talk about an barangay volleyball tournament.
DSA president Charles Raymond Maxey is requesting members to come on time.

No DSA Forum on Labor Day, happy birthday Jon Develos

Happy birthday Jon!


There will be no DSA Forum on May 1.
DSA president and Sunstar Davao sports editor Charles Raymond A. Maxey made the announcement on Wednesday.
We will also celebrate Jon Develos' birthday, DSA's vice-president and sports editor of Mindanao Times.

DSA strongly condemns ambush-slaying of former President

The Davao Sportswriters Association strongly condemned the ambush-slaying of Ferdie "Batman" Lintuan, who was its former President and a friend.

We urged police authorities to investigate and put the perpetrators of this barbaric act behind bars and give justice to Batman and his family.

DSA tackles Holcim football, Dover Memorial tourney

The Holcim Youth Football Tournament and the 1st Dover Memorial Bowling Tournament are the main topics of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum on Thursday, December 6, 10:30 a.m. at the Tower Inn.

Davao Football Association General Secretary Erwin Protacio, Coach David PeƱano, Holcim Phils. Vice-President Ednel Pascual will give details of the event scheduled on December 9 at the Tionko field near Agro College.

Larry Laolao, Bong Vergara's representative, will talk about the 1st Dover Memorial Cup, organized to honor the contribution of the late Domingo Vergara's to duckpin bowling in Davao City.

Joining them are Councilor Leo Avila for the RRD Elderlympics on December 8 to 9 at the RMC gym and December 10 at the SM City Davao, and Dr.Ana Moscoso for the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians Golf for a Cause Tournament on December 9 at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.

Boxing, charity run and basketball are the topics of the DSA Forum on Thursday, November 28, at the Tower Inn.
The weekly public service sports program, sponsored by Genesis 88 Advertising and Tower Inn, starts at 10:30 a.m. with guests ABAP-Davao President and Councilor Edgar Ibuyan, S.O.S. Children's Village Charity Run Organizer Noel Tanucan and Lipovitan Sports Cup Tournament Director Rael Diaz scheduled to give details of their events.

Bowling, swimming topics of DSA Forum on Nov.15

Bowling and swimming are the main topics of the DSA Forum on Thursday, November 15, 10:30 a.m., at the Tower Inn.

Emeterio Orteza, President of the Sunday Bowlers Club will give details of the upcoming Tatlohan Bowling Tournament at the Fairlanes while Darren Evangelista of the Evangelista Aquatics Inc. will discuss the Ceelin Mindanao Inter-School Swimming Competition scheduled on November 24 to 25 at teh Woodridge Park Village.
