Aero marathon gets underway

GENERAL Santos and Cagayan de Oro bets confirmed to join the 3rd Davao Mega Aero Marathon which kicks off with around 150 entries competing at 4 p.m. today at the Gaisano Mall of Davao Atrium.


Holiday Gym & Spa marketing assistant Neil Gellegani, appearing in the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn yesterday, said bulk of participants will come from Davao City and a handful from nearby cities in the Davao Region.


Gellegani said interested participants may sign up at the venue starting 2 p.m. The event proper though will yet start at 4 p.m.


"We have six aero instructors from different clubs who will serve as judges," he said.


The criteria for judging are: form and execution 30 percent, stamina and endurance 35 percent, ability to follow 20 percent, enthusiasm 10 percent and audience impact five percent.


Gellegani said categories entered are student 21 years old and below, novice1 for 21 to 40 years old, expert professionals and novice 2 for 40-above competitors.


Trophies, medals and gift certificates await the first three placers of every event that will have the male and female divisions.


Registration fee is P50 for students inclusive of contestant number, P200 for novice inclusive of shirt and contestant number and P250 for expert also inclusive of shirt and contestant number.
