PLDT golf tournament tees off

A TOTAL of 60 players will vie for honors and the right to represent the city to the PLDT Bossing Ako Invitational Golf Series Davao leg that gets underway via a shotgun tee-off at 7 a.m. today at the Apo Golf and Country Club.

Irene Ngosiok, PLDT SME community consultant for VisMin, yesterday said the invitational golfest will feature businessmen or businesswomen who are owners of small or medium enterprises.

"This tournament is a fun golf event not just for our clients and business partners as well. Others are members of different golf clubs but there are also those who don't belong to any clubs but they do play golf," Ngosiok said during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn yesterday.

Ngosiok said they held the Cebu leg recently while the Manila leg will get underway next week.

She also said that the golf tournament is a prelude of its main event, the MVP Bossing Awards, set at The Fort, NBC Tent next month. It is the search for the country's most valuable Pinoy entrepreneurs.

"We will also encourage the participants to join the MVP search during the awarding rites. Who knows the MVP winner will come from Davao," Ngosiok said.

Tournament coordinator Joseph Encabo said golfers will play the System 36 format where the over-all gross champion will book a ticket to Metro Manila for the MVP Golf Cup finals.

Trophies will be awarded to the class A, B and C gross and net champions and runners-up. (MLSA)
