1st Handy Fix Super League set

THERE’S always room for another cage tournament in this basketball-crazy country.
A nationwide tournament dubbed the `1st Handy Fix Super League National Barangay Championship’ will be launched next month in an effort to create an opportunity for barangay athletes to compete in the national level.
Covering Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the meet will run from September to November in the different barangays in the country.
League organizer Darren Evangelista of Evangelista Aquatics and Sports Management Inc., together with Magna Prime Distribution Corporation general manager Derreck Tan, and Unilab representative Ferdy Bruegerra were present in last Tuesday’s PSA Forum at Shakey’s U.N. Avenue and talked about the Super League.
Evangelista said the national champion will receive P25,000, while runner up gets P15,000. Second and third runner ups go home with P10,000 and P5,000, respectively.
The league will only accept six barangays per city on a first come, first serve basis.
Registration and eliminations will be held in Manila, Pasay, Paranaque and Taguig in Luzon, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Talisay and Cebu in the Visayas, and Davao, Panabo, Tagum and Digos in Mindanao.
Registration fee is pegged at P1,000 per team.
Regional Finals will be set to all city champions in their respective regions.
Luzon and Mindanao finalists will avail of an all-expense-paid trip to Cebu for the National Finals set Nov. 12-13.(PSA PR)
